Rock the Bells is a Hip-hop music festival that is currently the largest of it’s kind in the known world.
With it’s uncanny hopping of locations every single year, it reaches a much larger audience than some of the it’s relative rock festivals that stay in one location for the entirety of their existence. As a genre, hip-hop is a lot younger than rock n’ roll, but it has grown at an alarmingly fast rate and is now entirely taking over the music industry, making way for more festivals like Rock the Bells: exclusive to the genres of hip-hop and rap. The festival industry, only in the last decade, has really blown up across the world with the emergence of festivals like Sasquatch, Langerado, Rock The Bells, Harvest of Hope, and the Fest, with three of those mentioned just being in Florida.
2013 is the 10th year of Rock the Bells, with it’s launch party in New York just announcing the latest acts for it in early June, although the festival will only be 2 months away. It will be taking place in four separate locations: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and New York City. The lineup consists of some of the most well known Hiphop artists over the course of it’s short history, as well as a LOT of up-and-coming artists who are starting to break the scene. Kid Cudi, The Wu-Tang Clan, Black Hippy (supergroup consisting of Ab-soul, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock) are the headliners, all who are showcasing brand new music, even the Wu-Tang Clan with this being their 20 year anniversary. As for a very special appearance to those who have love hiphop since it’s younger days, the great Bone Thugs & Harmony reunite for the first time in over 10 years to play at Rock The Bells 2013! And there’s plenty for those who are more new to the game: Tyler, The Creator, Hit-Boy, Deltron 3030, and that’s barely scratching the surface.
If you are a lover of hip-hop, and especially music festivals, there’s no where better where you can have it all at once in the single greatest hip-hop festival mankind has ever known: Rock the Bells!
